Our Halloween Weekend

We're From Alabama

After living in Alabama for over a year, we now can say we are Alabamians because we went to the Syrup Sop in Loachapoka. Doesn't that just sound like your stereotypical Alabama town?  We got up to be there at 7:00 so we could get our Biscuits and Syrup, we walked around the city festival booths, for 20  minutes or so, and by 7:30 we were done but in that 30 minutes of cold weather and molasses syrup we were transformed from visiting westerners to true blue Alabama Southerners!

Sick Day

Today I woke up not feeling well.  At first I struggled with thinking about this day.  When I was sick before Sabey Baby, I stayed in bed all day, but I can't really do that anymore.  Yesterday I made a list of everything I wanted to accomplish today thinking those things would make me feel productive.  Well today, I slept while Leo slept.  Then When Leo was awake we just hung out.  We sat on the couch, he crawled all over me, we looked out the window, he chewed on the blinds string, we went outside for fresh air, we did the simple things.  Nothing on my list got accomplished, the dishes aren't done, the house is dirty, no crafts were done, no thank you cards written, but what turned out to be a day I wasn't looking forward to, turned out to be a great day.  Me and my little buddy had a good relaxing, yet playful day.  I feel more productive than ever!  

We're Moving to Kentucky

Or at least we would like to someday. Last weekend my best friend Laura got married. Ever since we were freshman in college she talked about how beautiful Kentucky was. I was from Oregon though... no state could compare so I just thought she was just talking big because she had never been to Oregon. Well, she knew exactly what she was talking about and if Allen got a job in Kentucky someday, we would be thrilled. Unfortunately we didn't take any pictures of the scenery, but we did take some pictures of the beautiful bride and her handsome hubby.  We are so excited for Laura and Tom. We had a great time being with friends and celebrating in their joy.

Leo was happy for Laura and Tom, but he cared a little more about the flowers. 

It was great to get to know Jeff (Brynn's husband).  We weren't able to make to Brynn and Jeff's wedding
 because it was 3 days before Leo was born.  But at least we will always remember
how long they have been married. 

Blogs: A Love Hate Relationship

I love blogs, but I also dislike them. I like staying in touch with friends and family. I like leaving comments to let you know that I just think you are swell. I like looking at cute pictures of your cute kids. I like seeing my nieces and nephews when I am so far away. I like hearing cute and funny stories. Some of my cousins have amazing blogs. They are incredibly talented writers and photographers. I love doing our blog it is fun to get little notes from all of you. I am amazed at all the good things that are on blogs. I get great recipes and ideas for activities with my family. I see incredible women doing incredible things and it is inspiring. Sometimes it just makes me want to be better. Sometimes it is inspiring and helps me take initiative. I can do those things... I can go exercise, and recover furniture, and take pictures, and make pillows, and cook 7 course meals, and use whole foods, and read books, and sew cute fashionable affordable clothes, all while being a good mom. Other times it is discouraging. I can't do those things... I didn't have enough energy to exercise because I got up 5 times in the night, I don't know how to recover furniture, or take pictures or make pillows or cook meals or use whole foods. I just put cans in a pot and I felt good because I actually had dinner on the table. It wasn't healthy but it was there. I like getting ideas about activities to do with my little one, but the time I spend looking, I am not spending with my little one. (He is taking a nap right now in case you were wondering.) Sometimes I get on and think I am in a good place and then I read, "my baby is sleeping 16 hours at night (okay that is a little bit of an exaggeration, but you get the idea) and I think, "gee what is wrong with us?" There are many other comparisons I find myself thinking when I sometimes look at blogs. Then there is the worry of "I am not a talented writer. I can't really write witty things." I like blogging, I am not ready to quit, but I sometimes have to take breaks. So for me blogs are good... blogs are bad. When I am in a good place it is a good idea. When I am in a less than good place, blogs are a bad idea. All things in moderation.

Sweet September

It is us the Sabeys... we are still here.  We had quite the exciting September.  

 We started the month off by going to the BYU Ole Miss Game.  It was quite an exciting game.  I am pretty sure all BYU fans from the South were there.  We met my sister Julee and Brother-in-law Nate from Tennessee there and we cheered our team on to victory.

The fans were really nice.  They even offered us free beer. How kind!  But in all honesty, they really were the kindest fans at an away game I have ever met.  They wanted us all to know we were welcome.  

Our smiles were a lot bigger than they would have been had we lost the game.

back to Alabama to spend the rest of the weekend with us!
We miss them already.

 Leo and I had an unexpected trip to Oregon.  My cute Grandma pictured on the left passed away.  I am so grateful that Leo and I were able to go home to Oregon for the funeral.  Grandma's life motto was Live Live Live Fun Fun Fun!  I need to remember her motto when I start stressing.  Leo liked her motto at Grandma's and Grandpa's.  He got to stay up till all hours of the night.  He was surrounded by 15 of his cousins that played with him non stop and there were plenty of toys that he could play with.

Leo's cousin Nathan dressed him so he could go outside.  I have
a feeling that Nathan is going to be Leo's role model.  

While I was in Oregon, I was able to see two good friends.  This is
my good friend Natasha who happened to be
in town the same week.

 This last weekend, We celebrated our anniversary.  Our fourth anniversary was in July.  Allen had clinic night that night, but for our gift we got tickets to Wicked and it was AMAZING!  Oh I just want to see it again and again.  This was the first time I left Leo for a long period of time.  It was so fun to be out on a fancy date.  We haven't done anything like this in about... oh well 10 months!

 Our friends the Bertagnolli's also had to tickets to the show.  Everyone needs to get tickets to the show!

 Although it was fun to be on a date, I was quite anxious to get back to Leo because he is just the cutest little boy!  I just love him.  On Saturday he turned 10 months!  Where have the last 10 months gone?  He is growing so much.  I just love watching him explore the world... which is basically the apartment.

 

At 10 months, he has started pulling him up on things.  He looks pretty proud of himself here.  We were just playing a game of hide and seek.  He thought of hiding under the table all by himself.  He is my kitchen broom since he is still doing the army crawl thing.  I don't know if he will ever crawl on his knees.  He has started eating finger foods and he loves it.  He gets all excited when I pull out the container of his little puffs.   He is still small for his age.  Weighing in at 17.5 pounds and 27 inches he is in the 10% for weight and height.  He is starting to get more hair, but you still can't see it because it is so blonde... shocker... Cameo and Allen have a blonde baby!  He is starting to sleep a little better which makes mommy happy.  Leo loves playing with Daddy.  Leo and Daddy have a lot of fun games that they play.  When I see Allen and Leo play I am reminded that is more important than a clean house.  Sometimes I get overwhelmed with all that I need to do, but I just want to enjoy this little guy.  How can you not love that little face!

9 Months!

That is right... Little Leo is now 9 months old. He has two big chompers up front. He is army crawling everywhere. He finding everything off the floor reminding mommy she needs to vacuum. He loves to make funny noises. He is a big fan of string. He loves going outside. And he is back to being his happy self. Month 8 was a little rough. He got a virus on top of another virus and started teething too. But he is feeling better and ready to explore the world! Happy 9 Months Leo!
