Some Loves

Here are a few new loves...

I love being a mom. I can hardly believe it has almost been a month since our lives changed forever. It is a lot more time consuming than I thought it would be. I am a LOT more sleep deprived than I thought I would be, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I love our Little Leo... I love the high pitched noises he makes, I love his smile, I love how he keeps his right eye closed and peaks out with his left eye... I could keep going and going.

I love my Boys! I told Allen I am glad we had a boy so I could refer to both of them at the same time. They are my boys and I love them. Allen then refers to Leo and I as his "eos".

And I love that I can eat cookie dough again!

Little Leo & New Photos

We have decided that Little Leo is our favorite "nickname" to call Leo (although it isn't really a nickname since it has his whole name in it...). So, you can still use Sabey Baby if you'd like, but Little Leo is all the new craze.

Home, Happy, and Healthy

We came home on Saturday, taking an extra day for Cameo just to rest at the hospital. But everyone is happy and healthy! Here are some final pictures from the hospital. This may be the last picture update for a little while...(all of Leo's pictures are almost the same).

Leo Burnett Sabey: The Full Story

So, here's how it all went down:

It all started on my birthday. We were driving to Atlanta to pick up Mom Burnett from the airport and we were about 30 minutes away when Cameo said, "Umm...I feel a little wet...(long pause)....WHOA, THAT'S A LOT OF WATER!" We immediately turned around to head back to Auburn (about an hour away) and called our amazing friends to pick Mom up from the airport. I drove pretty fast and even had to outwit a sheriff on the way back. We gathered all of our stuff quickly and drove another 40 minutes (probably less since I was speeding...) to the hospital in Columbus Georgia. (For those who didn't know, we wanted to have a midwife and midwives are illegal in Alabama so we have been driving 40 minutes to Georgia for everything with Sabey Baby.) We got all settled in and Cameo started doing her thing.

We wanted to do natural childbirth and we did for about 10 hours. There was some small complications that made it so Cameo wasn't completely dilated and the baby's head just wouldn't fit! Our midwife said that Cameo and Leo were getting too tired to continue safely (the baby's heartbeat would slow significantly during the contractions and pushing (which is normal) but would stay slowed for a few minutes afterwards (which was the dangerous part). So Cameo received an epidural. She then rested/slept for about an hour. The baby was supposed to then continue to come down naturally and then Cameo would just need to push at the end. Unfortunately, Leo's head was a bit too large and wouldn't move down to fit inside the pelvic (I think that detail is accurate...). The midwife tried a few things but nothing seemed to help and so suggested a cesarean. We of course took her professional medical advice for the safety and sake of baby and mom. Everything went perfectly during the c section and I was able to be in the room to announce the arrival of our little baby boy!

Leo Burnett Sabey (named after my maternal grandfather and Cameo's maiden name) was born at 1:32pm on November 24, 2010. He weighed 7 lbs. 15 oz. and was 20 inches long. He is perfect! We are so happy and love him so much (of course)!

Now for a few side comments:

The midwife told us that if everything were normal, Cameo would have done it all on her own! She is amazing!! It was extremely hard for her (and hard for me to see her like that (I cried like a baby a few times when seeing her in such pain)) but she did so incredible and was so strong and did everything that was asked or required of her. She is going to obviously be an amazing mother. As unnecessary but further evidence of this, Cameo's favorite question is "Is it normal for..." She asks about just about everything in this way to several people and I love it. She is so concerned about Leo.

We both cried when Leo was born. I was filled with joy and could barely tell Cameo that it was a boy. I've never felt such love for Cameo before. I love Leo so much.

Finally, I gave Cameo a blessing right after we arrived at the hospital, right before the epidural, and right before the c section. I gave little Leo a blessing at least two times (I don't remember when). I probably prayed at least 30 times on my own throughout the night and morning from 10:30pm to 1:30. I know that Cameo, Leo, and I received so much help and strength from God. There were several times when Cameo felt like giving up on natural childbirth. There were so many times I didn't think I could stay awake for another 5 minutes. There were so many times that both Cameo and I were worried sick about Sabey Baby. I was in pain because Cameo was in pain. We each cried several times (out of pain or worry). But we did it. I truly felt that Heavenly Father sent angels to watch over us and strengthen us. I know that none of us (Cameo, me, or Leo) could have done anything close to this on our own. We know that this was a miracle and we truly thank God for it all.

Leo Burnett Sabey has arrived! 7 lbs., 15 oz., 20 in.

Everything and everyone is perfect! We love him. More to come soon!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to Allen! Today he turns 26. He is the most Amazing Husband and is going to be the most amazing father. It doesn't look like his birthday wish will come true today (today is my due date and he wanted the baby to be born today), but he will get his wish soon. I love you Allen!

In hoping the baby would be born today and daddy and baby could share the same birthday, we made a little video for Sabey Baby!

Just Dance

Our institute director recently invited a few of the young couples to join his family for Family Home Evening. For the activity, they broke out a game on their Wii called Just Dance.

I have never really liked video games, but this wasn't a normal run of the mill video game.

There are four players and they have to mimic the dancer on the screen. We liked it so much we have gone back to play again and we will probably go again!

Above is a video of Allen dancing the Charleston. Allen was named the Dancing champion. I on the other hand was not so talented, but when Allen helped me, we took first place.

The SEC, Football, and my Funny Husband

I thought Allen and I were football fans before we moved to Alabama. Well compared to the folks in the South, we weren't. Football is like a religion here. When I lived in Utah, I would dress up on the weekdays, but Saturday was always a t-shirt day. Here is it the opposite. Students tend to not care about their appearance during the week, but on Saturday, the girls are all in dresses and the boys are in shirts and ties ready to go to the football game. It is a little bit backwards if you ask me.

Now I need to add, we will always bleed blue... BYU blue, but with all this football hype, it is hard not to become and Auburn fan. It also helps that they are number two in the nation and our quarterback is the number one candidate for the Heisman trophy. Now the teams down here are good. Really good! So good that I think if Oregon were to play one of the teams down in the South they would get their trash kicked. But then my Dad says that I have just been pulled int he SEC hype and they aren't that good. Well we shall see. We would really like it if Auburn was in the National Championship Game and it would be pretty great if they played Oregon. Then we could really see.

Well Allen and I had the opportunity to go to our first Auburn Football Game. It was quite the experience.

The massive football stadium. It is right in the center of campus. Like I said, football is a religion to these southerns, so we joke that this is their temple.

At the start of the game, an eagle flies around the stadium and lands in the middle of the field. Even though the mascot is a tiger, the eagle apparently has great significance. That is why they say "War Eagle."

After each win, crowds of people go to the corner of campus where there are two trees that hundreds and thousands of people come to TP. This was a first time going .

And lastly... my funny husband. He thinks it is pretty great that his wife's name is Cam too. He made this double picture one day and said, "vote for your favorite Cam."

It is true, we have been pulled into the SEC and we are big Auburn Fans and we hope they make it to the National Championship!

I Want to Be a Rock Star

Friday night it was our friend Elisa's Birthday Party... a Rock Star Party.

Allen and I decided to dress up as Bono and Pat Benatar. Allen even grew out some facial hair for the occasion. I am pretty sure he looks a little more like a rock Star than I do. I just look like a really big pregnant lady that is dressed a little crazy.

At the party I ran into my good friend Lady Gaga. Marti looks pretty fabulous!

And then Allen rocked out on Rock band the rest of the evening. I love the concentration on his face.

I have to admit, I am really glad the facial hair is gone, but he was a pretty cute rock star.
