Lessons Learned / Re-read Sunday

I was released from serving as the second counselor in the bishopric on Sunday (four days ago). I was talking to a good friend today and she asked me what I had learned. I thought it appropriate to share. I'm sure my experiences are not out of the ordinary or even original to my life. However, they are very significant to me.
First, our bishop is incredible. He is so sensitive to the spirit and motivated by love that he seems like he can do no wrong. I wish I had more of both of those...it makes for an incredible leader.
Second, just as in any stewardship, one feels (to a very small degree) how Heavenly Father feels about His children. It's like giving a priesthood blessing. You feel love for the person like Heavenly Father loves the person.
Lastly, knowing the various struggles and challenges of ward members helps you be less judgmental. There is so much we never know about...

Now, the real challenge is remembering and applying, right?

It’s good to think about what you learn from different experiences. Otherwise, it’s way too easy to forget. Also, writing them down is essential. Reading about our past experiences may be aberrant but is vital in remembering and applying. Therefore, I've chosen the last Sunday of every month to re-read something from my journal. It's kind of like a fast Sunday type ritual...

Hey Cameo, it's Mckinzie. This comment has nothing to do with the post but is in reponse to the comment you left on my blog about my craft tile.

I bought the tile from Home Depot for about $3 (it's a kitchen or bath tile) and the lettering is vinyl lettering I bought from a craft store for about $8 dollars. I washed the tile and then rubbed the letters on. I'm sure you can find the lettering in Utah.
