Right at the time of the reunion, school started for me. Second time around is so much better! Allen and I have been talking about why this year could be going so much better. I think I just got off to a better start. I started the year off knowing who I am as a teacher and I have a better idea of my management plan. And I think my students are just a little nicer too. Granted they are still emotional 8th graders that love to talk, but they are not mean spirited, at least to me they are not! I can handle that. My students are so nice that they created a group on Facebook called “Sabey Rocks.” I guess I must be an okay teacher then… hopefully.
The week after school started, my best friend Katie got married. Allen and I were trying to decide whether or not I should go out to Oregon for the wedding seeing how I could not miss any days of school and it would be such a short trip. After thinking about all the people that made sacrifices to come to our wedding and how much it meant to us, we decided it would be worth the trek to Oregon. Unfortunately Allen wasn’t able to go, but it was a beautiful ceremony. It was fun to reminisce the year before when Allen and I got married because they were married by the same sealer and they had their reception in the same back yard. Katie and Ryan are perfect for each other and we are so happy for them.
For Labor Day, our friend Dave and his girlfriend Derrellyn invited us to go camping. We were planning on camping in Zions, but it was a little too expensive. We found a great campsite up in Cedar Canyon. We felt like it was our last hurrah of our fabulous summer! Dave also took us on a hike that was like a mini version of “The Narrows” and it was free to hike. It even had a little rock slide at the end. Allen had fun playing with fire and we just enjoyed getting away. Here is a quick look of our camping trip.

When we got back it was time for Allen to start school. He is now into the full swing of things. This semester he is a TA for a psych 111 and then he is also part of a research team. His research is serving as his capstone to his major. He loves all of his classes especially his class LDS perspectives on psychology. Many times he finds that there are discrepancies between some psychology theories and the gospel and he has enjoyed taking a class where two of his passions are aligned together. He is learning so much and luckily his schedule allows him to help me a lot too!
Since school started, it also meant Frisbee season has begun. Once again he is on a talented team and they are going for the intramural championship this year and I think they have a chance. I had a friend ask me about his last game. I told her that they won and she said that she is just going to stop asking because she already knows the answer. It is fun for me to go watch because the majority of the team is married so we have a little wives club at the games so we both enjoy Frisbee season!
Since school has started, we still have tried to do a couple of fun activities. We went to a Ryan
Shupe and the Rubber Band Concert. Here is a video of our favorite Banjo Boy! But mostly we have been enjoying football season. We are proud to say that the Cougars are ranked 8th in the Nation! Go Cougars!
Lastly, I wanted to show my summer creations. Saturday night President Uchtdorf spoke at the Relief Society Broadcast. It was fabulous!!! If you haven’t heard it I highly recommend it. He talked about women being able to “create” so I wanted to show what I created. I finished a cross-stitch that I started when I was in 5th grade and then I made my first quilt. Of course it is a BYU quilt!
Overall, the last two months have been busy and great! We sure love and miss all of you!
