Jubilant juncture of June

Although it’s been said many times before by many people much more significant than we are, we add our voices in the declaration, “Summer time is grand.” We are both relaxing (while still using our time effectively) and absolutely loving it. Cameo has been running, swimming, cross-stitching, and working a little on preparing lesson plans for next year. I’m still working part-time, playing a good deal of ultimate, and finding a lot of little projects to keep my busy.
I finished up Spring Term successfully. My psychology of gender class that I most recently took was most interesting. While helpful in dispelling many of the false stereotypes that the world has, I’m most grateful for the fullness of the gospel and it’s teachings concerning the family. Where the world is especially confused in a few major particulars, the Apostles stand firm. “Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose.” What assurance.
Also, good news concerning my schooling. I recently received news that I received a full-tuition scholarship for next year. We feel very blessed.
This weekend is the tournament for the Orem Ultimate League that I’ve been playing in. Our team had some pretty good players on it and we actually finished the regular season undefeated. One fun fact was that we never decided on a team name before we started playing so at our first game we came up with one (Don’t Eat Pete), at our next game we had another name (The No Shows), and it went like that for the entire season. We were also La Fuenta, Underhanded, Parched, The Team Who Must Not Be Named, and Women’s Prison. Any suggestions for our tournament name?
I also recently had the great experience of participating in the New Mission President’s Seminar again. It was just as uplifting as last year. Just being around such great men and women is so encouraging. I’m sure all of you have known plenty of such inspiring people in your life. Such goodness is infectious. I also got to briefly meet many of the Apostles and other General Authorities (Pres. Monson, Elder Ballard, Elder Christofferson, Elder Holland, Elder Perry, Elder Oaks, Elder Nelson, and Elder Wirthlin just to name a few).
My best friend, Collin Thompson, recently was married up here. It was a pretty small affair but was super fun and obviously very special for him and his new wife (Chenelle). I even got to wear a tux (something that I didn’t even do for my own wedding!).
Also, as part of the occasion, Peter and Kristen came and stayed at our apartment. It was quite exciting with 11 people sleeping in our room, our extra room, and the living room. We did all sorts of fun stuff together (including bowling where I won the championship!).
As the most recent event, 4th of July in Idaho was a blast. We were a part of the parade in Idaho Falls. Byron (Julie’s husband) owns a pot business (the pretty garden pots for plants, not the illegal drug) and he had a float in the parade as an advertisement. We got to walk along the float, give out candy to the kids (and some adults), and pass out nice flyers for the business. It wasn’t unbearably warm and it was enjoyable. We also drove up to Rexberg and I took some nice pictures of the new temple there.

Lastly, we must add our late cheer of “Go Boston!” The NBA finals
were quite exciting to watch and we both feel like Boston deserved to win it all.
It was a great month. We love you all!
