HAPPY PIONEER DAY

Utah... the only state where the fourth of July is known as "that other July holiday." That is right, Pioneer day is one of the biggest holidays... at least in Salt Lake City it is. So, in honor of this Utah Holiday, we decided to run a 10K (6.2 miles). This is the most that Allen has EVER run before.
We both wore our running clothes that we thought were the most intimidating, so even if we didn't win, at least we looked the part.
We started off strong... until Goliath Hill. This is where Allen showed his true strength. He ran up the monstrous hill without stopping passing everyone. He was then kind enough to wait for me at the top because I was quite a bit behind. We then ran together for the first 4 miles and then he took off the last 2 miles. We had a great time running together and then we both passed runners the last two miles which means we both had negative splits (we ran faster the last few miles than we did the first). I even got 2nd place in my age division. (This was a big surprise to both of us.) It was a great pioneer day activity. Allen even won a Real Soccer Team Scarf.

Moral of the story... I think we have found another long distance runner... welcome to the running world Allen Sabey!

Whoa, Cameo! Congrats on the second place, and Allen on his Real prize! (And passing everyone on the hill.) Here in Minnesota, to celebrate Pioneer Day, we did as the pioneer children did: we tried to "paint, and paint, and paint, and paint, and paaaiiii-nt."

As for blog backgrounds and blackgrounds. Yes, still entirely black to me, but I guess at where I think text is and highlight it, then I highlight the area where I think "comments" should be, so that's how I found the link to comment. So, I can do it, I just sort of limp along in a missing-one-leg way. If I'm the only disabled one, don't change your blog for me! (But I am highly honored that you would consider!)
